Lars начинает продюссировать

Lars Ulrich обзавелся своей звукозаписывающей компанией. Его детище называется The Music Company. Совместно с Elektra Entertainment лейбл выпустил два альбома. Компания заниматься действительно тяжелой музыкой видимо не будет: на прошлой неделе они выпустили альбом группы из Техаса Goudie(нечто похожее на Radiohead). /News from FIDO/

LARS AT MTV AWARDS

As you probably know, Metallica's video I Disappear has been nominated for five MTV Video Music Awards. The VMA's will be handed out on September 7 at New York's Radio City Music Hall. Lars has been asked to present an award. No word yet on what catagory. More news about this will follow. Source:metallica.com

METALLICA's "CLASSIC ALBUM"

Metallica.com reports that Metallica will be taping an episode of "Classic Albums" in late September about the making of "Metallica," the black album, for VH-1. Included in the special will be interviews with the band, producer, and mixer discussing what it was like to make the album, the impact it has had on their fans, and the changes in their career since the release of the album. There have been nine episodes produced of this show over the last few years on such classics as U2's "The Josha Tree," Fleetwood Mac's "Rumors, and " Jimi Hendrix's "Are You Experienced?" among others. No word yet on an air date.

THE MAKING OF I DISAPPEAR

Futureffects who did the I disappear video has an interview with the director of photography Dave Rudd where he talks about the shots. He also explains a lot about the music video and say: DR: Each one of the guys had their own tribute to their own classic film. For instance the scene with the dry lake bed and Kirk being chased by the biplane, was a tribute to North by North West, the Hitchcock film. We wanted to do it one step better. Now we have the technology that was not available to them at that time. The rotunda scene with Jason was a cross between Midnight Express and Brazil. In Midnight Express everyone is walking in a circle and the guy walks in the opposite direction which is a tribute to that as well as the uniformity of Brazil. James did a sequence from Bullet, the Steve McQueen film. Finally, the scene with Lars jumping out of the building was a tribute to the Die Hard movies.
